If they thought we were going to "turn against them" what good would that action have done them? If that was what we wanted to do, they would be history. Isreal is a great allie for the U.S. They provide us with a lot of intelligence. But they shouldn't make the mistake that we can't survive without them. In a perverse way, Isreal may be holding us back... if there was no Isreal, then we wouldn't have any restrictions on what we could do there. We wouldn't have to worry about "what the arabs will do to Isreal". They wouldn't stop their shennaingans if there was no Isreal, Isreal is just convenient. Their problems are deep seated, and Isreal and the west are scape goats. If Isreal was gone, their problems would still remain, and then they would have to focus on the west exclusively. The people in power there (arabia in general) want to stay in power. They do that by allowing their religion to run things. It runs their lives, and it holds them back. For them to progress they have to change that. That would mean the king pins have to relinquish their power and control and let a whole new way of thinking be the norm. Not many people go willingly, they have to be "fired". In Afgan, IMO I think they need to let the women run things, and keep the old school away until a proper government is up and running, and a democracy is working. The old school know only one thing, they have been fighting in the mountains for the last 30 years, they are ruined. The women know what it's like to be totally screwed over and they probably would make life better for them all. Then after things stabilize and settle down, after maybe 20-30 years and the new generation has been educated, they can have everyone participate. After ww2 I believe a lot of the old nazis wanted to be put in office, claiming they had the expertise and knowledge to run things, and the allies wouldn't let them because they knew that if they did, they would revert back to their old ways. (sure some slipped through, but I think overall they were banned) IMO Afgan is the same thing, I don't understand why we want to recycle all the old lunatics. They need fresh blood, and IMO the women is what they need.
