The answer to that question will be telling.<<

I am tempted to invoke Godwin's Law on you...

... but will refrain. ;-)

Instead of using an example that is separated from us by a long distance, many years, and a hypothetical, why not use a more direct example:
Was it "wrong" for us to kill all those Afganis?

To the Afganis, I'm sure it is considered wrong. To most people who associate with the humanitarian commonalities between themselves and the Afganis, I'm sure they would also consider it wrong. However, to many Americans it would not be considered wrong. These Americans are associating themselves with the common values of justice and national interests over those of basic humanitarianism. Obviously, it is a balance of competing associations. Where do your values lay?

Here's another example, from a long time ago. But it is (supposedly) not a hypothetical. Was it wrong for for Joshua to commit genocide in each of the cities he conquered (as God commanded him)?
The answer to that question will be telling.
