Most of what I say here is grounded in the message presented in Neale Donald Walsch's With God series. While this message has its analogs in many traditions I believe it has been distorted in many ways over time. The question of "illusion" is one of them. Some maintain that we live in a world of illusion. If by this they mean that our perceptions are not ultimate or that reality is not absolute then I agree with them. If, however, they mean that a different absolute reality exists beyond our perceptions and that therefore our experience that we call reality is thereby rendered meaningless or unimportant than I strongly disagree. I maintain rather that it is the belief in absolutism which is illusory and instead we are dealing with an infinite matrix of "realities" none of which is "superior" or "inferior" to any other in any absolute sense. CWG suggests that our illusions are in fact the tools we use to create these realities and that their purpose is to allow us to create the contextual frames of reference in which we can know ourselves experientially as Who We Are and Who We Choose to Be.

This is similar to the on-again-off-again argument I've had with James and Frederick on the subject of ego. Yes, the ego itself is an illusion but again only in the sense outlined above. This is why I describe the gift of self and the illusion of disunity as the greatest miracles of all, for this is the tool we use to create the context in which we can know our unity experientially.

Hope this clarifies things somewhat.
