J.T. - NEM has been shorted in an arbs play (that big gap in Nov).
You can expect that gap to be filled (at least) by the unwinding of the short positions.
Further, the "Battle of Normandy", Anglo had Deutsche as merger consultant. It is conceivable that Deutsche shorted a bunch of NEMs to get the price down in favor of Anglo.
Now that the battle seems over (and Deutsche be short of the merger fee) the short pressure is released and, if I am correct, Deutsche will prop up the price.

OK, there also is TA.
But without the merger buzz, NEM should have followed the bugs and be somewhere around $27 S/R line today.
Hard to tell.
