Interestingly, I do not find Limbaugh's extremism to be in any way similar to that of Falwell or Buchannan. It is strange you lump thme together.

Limbaugh may well be different but they all sound a like to me at least when they are ranting. That isn't meant to be funny.....there is a level of anger with their rants that makes it hard to hear what they are saying. But you're right its not as much with Limbaugh, esp. in the last couple of years.

I think Rush is often well informed and usually articulate, but I agree that sometimes he does come across as pompous, and I could see how that combined with disagreeing with his politics could cause liberals to dislike him so much.
