noj, re: Flarion, I received the following today in my converge.digest summaries. Is this what you're referring to?

FLARION ESTABLISHES FLASH OFDM ALLIANCE
Flarion Technologies formed an alliance for the development and
deployment of flash-OFDM technology for mobile IP-based services.
Flarion's flash-OFDM mobile broadband system is a packet-switched
radio access network with QoS capabilities that overlays onto a
mobile operator's existing cell sites and spectrum. Flarion's
platform would provide a seamless routing interface to the
operator's existing IP network. Participants in the Flash OFDM
alliance include Certicom, Cisco Systems, Compaq, Decibel
Products (a division of Allen Telecom), Enfora, Flarion
Technologies, Funk Software, GTRAN Wireless, Invertix, LCC
International, PacketVideo, Pentair Electronic Packaging, Philips
Semiconductors and Powerwave Technologies.

Flarion Technologies, January 15, 2002

Philips Semiconductors and Flarion Technologies, a start-up based
in Bedminster, New Jersey, are collaborating on ASICs that enable
flash-OFDM wireless connectivity at rates up to 3 Mbps. The
ASICs, which handle transmit-signal and receive-signal
processing, will be available in early 2002, with availability of
flash-OFDM mobile PC cards in the fourth quarter of 2002.

Flarion Technologies is headed by Ray Dolan, who previously was
Chief Operating Officer for NextWave Telecom. Prior to NextWave,
he was Executive Vice President of Marketing for Bell Atlantic
NYNEX Mobile. The company was founded by Dr. Rajiv Laroia,
formerly with Bell Laboratories.

In October, Flarion Technologies secured $45 million for
development of its air interface technology for IP-based mobile
broadband networks. Investors include Cisco Systems, Nassau
Capital, Pequot Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, Charles River
Ventures, and Lucent Technologies' New Ventures Group.
