Let's see. If we had parked the US Navy off Japan for, say, five or ten years and blockaded it, THEN you would have been screaming about our heartless starving of children, right? And if we had continued conventional bombing, we'd be hearing about murder of "innocent" civilians, too, right?

Sound familiar? Think Iraq and Afghanistan.

Seems to be a no-win situation. So we might as well have done what we did.
