A.L.,

<< sold most of my QCOM after the last earnings came out, and inexplicably, despite what I thought were suck-ass earnings quality, the stock traded in the mid-50's. Because of the optimistic nature of human beings, I doubt the issue will get too much below 40 - and actually have some staggered GTC buys in the 38-42 range. >>

I stayed put. My one trim of QCOM last year was at $88. I agree with you however about the trading range and staggered GTC buys in the 38-42 range are sensible. Anything under $40, I consider a Qualcomm bargain but I myself won't add as I'm comfortable my LT position.

<< NOK I'm wondering whether that gap at 18 from October will fill. Have a small short in NOK, looking for cover point and reentry to go long. >>

The gap could fill. I consider anything under $20 a good NOK entry point, but my position exactly where I want it.

All in all I am probably heavier the sector than I should be, but long term I like it as well as any, and the strong balance sheets of QCOM & NOK will allow them to weather the storm.

Next 6 months will be very choppy for wireless sector, IMO. I do think that things could and should improve from there.

J.P. Morgan's price target for Nokia shares of 13 euros supports your short thesis and implies that maybe you should lower your cover-and-go-long point. Good luck.
