(1) are slow enough that you have to wait for them, and (2) are processor-bound (not e.g. bandwidth-bound), and (3) cannot be accelerated by AltiVec?

Actually most of my needs are not vector intensive, but at the same time I do not know if my usage patterns are typical.

I simply do not know enough power users to assert with confidence what is the typical cpu-intensive usage out there.
