I believe I've answered your question. Ask yourself why you accept Jesus as savior. I'm sure you can come up with any number of "respectable" answers but if you are honest with yourself you'll see that none of these truly speak for your heart. The same is true for us all. Ask a man with a toothache how he "knows" he has a toothache and see the reaction you get. Ask a woman in love how she "knows" she's in love and she'll likely just laugh.

Acts of faith, large and small, are so integral to our experience that we often overlook them completely. It's why AI researchers have never been able to provide computers with what we call common sense. Experience is not a matter of logic and calculation. As the poet says, the heart has its reasons of which reason knows nothing.

"Feelings are notorious for being wrong"

Part of the confusion is due to semantics.

Your quote above refers to "reactivity", which arises in
mind, as does thought. Mind arises in feeling.

These sorts of distinctions, and what they are all about,
are the subjects of esoteric religion, of all varieties.
The traditional content of the Old Testament, for example, is virtually entirely about "life-wisdom" or EXOTERIC religion. Similarly with most of the New Testament.

"In the beginning was the Word..." is an example of
ESOTERIC religion.

Namaste!
