Agree to all that. I see a lot of posts addressing one data point trends here on SI.

One of my favorites: "Correlation does not confirm causation"

The larger point, imho, is that while manufacturing and telecomm. have been hit very hard, the economy in toto is not doing that badly. Aggregate personal income peaked in September 2001 and is down less than 1% since then.

It is my opinion that when the economy turns the corner the recovery will be very strong due to the inventory drawdown that has taken place over the last 18 months. I also expect that the stock market will be off to the races again with Bubble Part Deux.
