I have heard that Walker stated that after the events of 9/11, he and other rank-and-file were told that bin Laden was behind it. So he's clearly a potential witness in any case against OBL and other high up Al Qaeda. My guess is that they are throwing the book at him to get him to cooperate. I doubt that Walker's trial will be a zoo. It's here in Northern VA; the court is a very serious court; the judge (Brinkema) is a very serious judge. This is the Old Dominion. Very conservative. About as far from Marin County as is possible, culturally as well as physically. The potential jury pool extends well beyond the DC suburbs, all the way out to the Blue Ridge mountains.
