Wow,

We're back to CVA again. I must admit that I had fun trying to find out what it meant. I have come to the conclusion that the Navy's exact definition for hull designations changes from time to time. For instance, I read that CV meant "carrier vessel", then I've read that the "C" in the "CV" designation stood for cruiser (as cruisers started with C-and aircraft carriers were often built on the hulls that cruisers would have had and were less armed and armoured than Battle Ships), then "CV" just stood for an aircraft carrier (a NATO designation), then at last "C" stood for aircraft carrier, "V" stands for something like fixed wing aircraft.
