Not necessarily, in the past 5 years, only a few companies have caused the markets to rise. Each "professional investor", i.e. money manager, has different objectives. What about all those precious metal funds? Bond funds? It isn't an "apples to apples" comparison.

kvkkc, RE: As far as I can see, the 90% failure to beat the indexes every year by "pros" tells me there's a lot more garbage going in.

That just means to me that the game is a lot tougher than some people think.

The fact that there are some pros that rely on those fundamentals that you so decry and those pros beat the market year in and year out indicates to me that there is value to fundamental analysis.
