The kids are learning to think and to question...

I believe that Solon is right about that. But the question is, "Who shall answer those questions?

When parents become so befuddled as to let kids find their own answers, they are abdicating their responsibilities as adults. Kids lack the maturity and experience to know where or how to find answers, and it is the parents responsibility to guide them. Often that means being judgmental, which is absolutely necessary in a world filled with evil and predators. Anyone who has raised children knows that they desperately need and want structure, certainty, and limits to behavior, and when a parent fails to be judgmental enough to provide them, the child is left confused and vulnerable. When a child makes the passage to adulthood, that is the time for coming to one's own views and beliefs.
