Modeling is an inexact art at best and usually is much less than inexact.

While true and the "GIGO" principle applies, it beats "shooting from the hip"

I would agree.

There's a lot more to fundamental analysis than modeling.

Perhaps Einstien had FA in mind when he said "All models are wrong. Some are merely useful". Who knows.

The only thing FA (or any model) does is try to frame and articulate the REASONING behind a position. Which reasoning might be totally baked, but at least it's exposed to the light of day.

And then the reasoning can be debated, instead of swatting away differential conclusions. I find having a model to be more comfortable a basis for analytic reasoning than having a conclusion and working backwards.
