Pitt "appears" to be the classic fox guarding the henhouse. From my point of view as an investor, he was a strange choice for this job, like making Bill Gates (or Jesse Jackson for that matter) the head of the DOJ.

Hopefully Pitt will rise above his previous bias and serve in his nation's best interest, not just implement and spindoctor the interests of his previous clients.
I read recently that one of Pitt's earliest moves was to reduce SEC enforcement staff. Remember the S&L Industry when the regulators were slowed down by political ideologues in the interests of the "free market"? We need pragmatism and BALANCED economic vision not radical ideology (from the left or right).

Just my $.02

Pitt's new division will just slap hands I bet

He must look like a tough guy because of the Enron situation so he starts an enforcement division to monitor and persue cases against accountants. When they finally do sue one then go after him, they will probably just slap their hand and make them promise never to do it again, without admitting or denying guilt of course. The SEC doesn't have the power to really crack down on these guys, nor the desire with Pitt at the helm. The need the powers of the Justice Department instead of having to beg for their help on only certain cases which also involve other criminal acts. I want Levitt back :-(
