I heard that Intel plans to reduce its spending on semi-equipment by at least a billion dollars for the year 2002. You might want to listen to the earnings conference call.

Intel said 1 bil less on buildings and 1 bil less on equipment. That would explain a decline from 7.5 bil to 5.5 bil in capex. I am surprised that it is so high.

Claude, maybe you saw this >When queried about Capex reduction he [Barrett] said 5.4 million in 02 will buy us as much capacity as 7.3 bought us in 01. His reference was again to the increased yields that 300mm offered.<
