I wonder how companies are going to react to the threat of more scrutiny and oversight of their accounting practices. How many are in the same situation that Enron was but just haven't been "outed" yet? How is the predictable scramble to get the books in order going to affect their bottom line next quarter or next year for that matter?

I wish I could agree.

As noted in the Citigroup earnings release, they are looking to implement $1B in cost savings and expenditures...

If we are still in a situation of overcapacity coupled with corporations implementing cost cutting measures with an eye to meeting earnings "growth"....I'm afraid I don't see the pent up demand.

Eventually yes...but I still believe we are contracting. The companies will continue to slash spending until we get a real balance between capacity and demand.
