Walt Mossberg knows which Dells to compare to which iMacs

I went to Dell's Web site (www.dell.com) and priced a Dimension 4400 model with a 15-inch flat-panel, DVD-recording drive and roughly the same specs as the iMac, including the FireWire ports, and came up with a price of $1,991, about $200 more than Apple's. A similar exercise, roughly matching the specs of the low-end iMac with a Dimension 4300S, yielded a price of $1,461, compared with $1,299 for the Apple.

It isn't that difficult to compare similar models, after all. All it takes is a fair mind.

What you're missing is that such a drive is not available for the Dimension 4300s.

It is sad to see you reduced to nitpicking, in the face of a losing argument.

You claimed you could not find a cheaper-than-superdrive-iMac PC, yet here is one that is lower in price by $250 dollars.

The fact that you have to order it from two places instead of one is irrelevant compared to the $250+ dollars you save buying the Dell PC.

You fool nobody by moving the goal posts with this ridiculous requirement that you have to be able to buy the whole thing all at the same place.
