speaking of saying something stupid, remember this quote:

<<Mr. Harrison, Alliance's vice chairman, acknowledged that, in retrospect, he missed some warning signs. "Nobody except very smart short sellers dug into all the footnotes that might have been there," he said. "Shame on me for not doing something on it." [this was RE: ENRON]>>

well, here's some of the fallout:

Enron stock purchase could spur lawsuit

Florida State Board of Administration officials are considering LEGAL ACTION against Alliance Capital Management. The $88 billion system is investigating whether Alliance acted improperly by continuing to buy stock in Enron Corp. after indications of Enron’s financial problems started to emerge, said Lee Baldwin, spokeswoman for the fund. Officials emphasized that no decision has been made regarding Alliance, which the Tallahassee, Fla., system TERMINATED last month.Florida officials said funds under their management lost $300 million in the past year due to Enron’s collapse.

maybe this will teach that friggin' moron to read the footnotes.

Cheers
