If you're in the LA area, there are 99 Ranch Markets there...they sometimes have fresh durian and usually have them frozen. I gave the ice cream another try and chucked it--awful.

I finally tried lucuma ice cream. I kind of liked it. It had a very distinctive texture. I had trouble comparing the flavor to known flavors. It was kind of subtle. Sort of hints of pumpkin and egg nog, although my wife didn't agree. If they carried it at a store closer to me, I might buy it again....but they don't.
