Yes, I agree: civility is the word I would use. Of course, the urge to justice and the right to self defence will sometimes dictate the use of sarcasm or other techniques...depending on the provocation, insult, or lie.

Nor does "Civility" suggest that beliefs may not be rigorously condemned and derided. For instance, I lose all pretense of "politeness" when dealing with some nut who says that the hatred of witches is a morally upright belief, and that the killing of these teeenagers was/is justified by a Divine God.
