The fact is, the Federalist founding fathers, the ideological ancestors of the Republicans, felt that raising taxes to pay the debt was a good and prudent idea

"The debt" you refer to was for an activity EXPRESSED in the Constitution, namely defending the rebublic. The same can not be said of today's debt.

TigerPaw, Despite the facts, you will not let go of your skewed, myopic, look at the early taxes. You remind my of a cur dog that has a bone with no meat on it, but he just keeps gnawing at it anyway.

I had a hunch that posting to you would be total futility, and it appears the hunch was correct, so I'm going to leave you alone and let you live in your own little pity pot being fed by paranoia.
