OK, for the sake of not arguing, I will go ahead and agree with anyone who wants to claim the figures are manipulated in various ways to suit some mysterious individuals who have not been identified and who are apparently alleged to be doing this for political reasons.

However, this whole discussion arose because one individual claimed the unemployment figure announcement was *rigged*. Since the entire unemployment report takes up many printed pages and the TV guyz give it a quick brush for the highlights, the figures are not spun by the government but are regularly tossed around in bits and pieces by media types starting at 8:30 a.m., who aren't *rigging* them either. THAT is my main argument.
