Personally, I don't think much of any humongous statistical survey and see no way it could accurately reflect the true state of anything. Might be OK for spotting some really big trends, but when the surveys are as huge as those done by BLS, it seems to me that anything can happen or not happen and they might not really mean a thing. I'm also not one of those people who makes daily trading decisions based on the economic report du jour---has always amazed me the way Wall Street stops breathing for a few minutes when these reports are about to come out.
