have you ever been involved with divorce cases when both parties were demonstrably and repeatedly violent? If so, how does a judge typically rule?

Just once. It's one of those "a plague on both your houses" situations - the mutual violence cancels each other out.

Usually, the party that is the biggest jerk gets slammed.
