but on the other hand Iran is not exactly friendly to Sunni Wahabism either.

I think militant Islam is patching up those differences. Arafat (secular), Hamas (Wahabbi) and Hizbullah (Shiite) did not used to be friendly, but as you can see from the intifada and the Karine A, they are running joint operations now. Debka, for what it's worth, thinks that the Hizbullah militant Mugniyeh smuggled bin Laden out of Afghanistan via Iran.
