Another friend of mine just bumped down their calling plan minutes with Sprint.

Sprint added, net of disconnections, over 1.1M customers in this recession Q4. With affiliates, they almost hit 1.5M, in this recession Q4. When they report the rest of their financial details, I expect the primary differential from previous expectations will be fixed marketing costs were not spread over the anticipated number of net adds, making OCF light and the average cost to add a sub a little heavy.

Their yearly revs were probably up about 40-50% and a slightly reduced 2002 forecast will be up something like 30%. The boom in wireless data I anticipate when that 1xrtt network finally lights up is not factored into that forecast, IMHO.

Piss poor stock appreciation(or lack thereof<g>) aside, Sprint PCS's growth remains a quite bright light in a damn dark tunnel.

fwiw, a friend of mine has cancelled his land line long distance service. He does most of his calling on his cellphone and since the minutes are already prepaid, he decided he didn't need to pay the $5 a month for the access.

The novelty is wearing off.

Your friend is the exception....Minutes of Use have skyrocketed at PCS over the last year. They are now averaging somewhere around 9 hours a month.

You may not like the performance of the stock price but the switch to wireless has been a one-way street in terms of usage.
