>>AOL maybe buys Red Hat<<

Put that right along side the brilliant acquisition by AOL of Netscape for what, 10 Billion dollars. What would they use it for to run an intranet between the Durham and the Washington DC office of AOL??

Remember when WordPerfect corporation was not happy with just a word processor and invented the "task switcher" to replace windows?

It's a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll.

dybdahl,

Just like AOL's acquisition of Netscape, huh?

dyb,

Focus on this comment...

AOL Time Warner could potentially make significant inroads into Microsoft's bread-and-butter business. An even graver challenge to Microsoft would be for AOL Time Warner to develop a rival operating system that works exclusively with the media giant's own Internet service provider, its Web browser or proprietary content

Now wouldn't that be an "abuse" of AOL's monopoly-like power in the ISP space?

birds of a feather ...
i.e. when suckers join forces, a grocery store of penguin-ware and the hyperinflated mickey mouse merger resting on trillions of Weimar bucks :-)

On the other side (you might call it "dark" :-) there is *real* cash and ma' bell's muscle through CONCAST.

pick and choose :-)
