Thanks for your suggestion. In an earlier post, Stang also suggested removing the battery which is probably the brute force method I would usually be inclined to use.

You can usually change the jumper settings that will disable the password setting (assuming this is a desktop,not a laptop). Look in your motherboard manual for the settings.>

If I didn't have a clue where the manual was, is there a way of getting the information? For instance is it possible there is some included help on my harddrive which I could look at, or could I grab some sort of identifying number of the board when I open the case and do a google search?
