The point is no one is really buying them. Dell dropped Itanic from it's WS lineup. And most of the ones that were purchased are by software developers who are wondering if it's going to pan out.

No One wants a high priced slow server that can heat a room.

This is true. As the originator of that little line, I must note that I only post the priceline ref for amusement. The parts listed are all from one retailer, presumably just propagating its distributor's parts list. The processors aren't even listed as Intel parts, but rather by the OEM system (HP/IBM/Compaq) they can drop into. There are no Itanium motherboards on Pricewatch, and presumably no particular interest or capability available in building Itanium systems at the screwdriver shop or individual level.
