Sorry USA capitalists, when it comes to beer... the hard working "socialist" drinking classes win...hands down, they know a good biz, it should be government policy! -LOL-

protzonbeer.com

"We have no shareholders demanding cheaper methods of production," Josef Tolar said. "The government tells us 'You're the most profitable brewery in the Czech Republic so carry on!

As well as the 5% premium lager, Budvar brews for the domestic market a 4% beer, an alcohol-free beer, a new super-strength Bud Strong (7.2%), aged for 200 days, and a "ringed lager". The last-named beer is the 5% premium lager to which a further dosage of yeast plus some unfermented extract ("Krausening") is added to draft beer in kegs.

I drank "ringed lager" in the tavern attached to the Maly Pivovar Hotel in Ceske Budejovice and found it had a fuller palate and greater hop character. It is supplied only to chosen restaurants in the Czech Republic and is the lager equivalent of cask-conditioned "real ale" in Britain."

"Not looking for conflict in US"

Jiri Bocek, Director General of Budweiser Budvar, told me he was not looking for conflict with American giant Anheuser-Busch as a result of launching his premium lager as "Czechvar" in California, Florida and the Eastern States.

"We're just interested in selling beer in the US," he said. "It's not a provocation.. Imported beer is popular there -- the segment is growing -- and it's important for consumers to taste premium lagers."

EOS.. (End Of Story) Supply good beer USA capitalists, or you will be taken over. Drinking classes roolz. -g-

Previously I didn't get to the link you posted. Personally, I like a slight bite to a brew when it's in my mouth as long as it doesn't have a lingering bitterness to it.

Interesting what you said about the staying power of the lagers and pilsners. Perhaps Japanese beers are more inconsistent hence the occasional nasty bottle.

Man, I'd love to try some of that Budvar.........
