Good point what it the number, and are retirees paid out of the defense budget or some other pot. Never thought about how they got paid. With all the ever increasing numbers of generals and Admiral's something I find disgusting, that number becomes much larger because flags bring home at least 70K in retirement per year. My guess is 30 billion?
