I hope you are right, but the story keeps repeating itself historically. There's alway's a new crop of people coming along to be burned. Maybe I've learned some lessons in life, but what about the folks coming up the rear who haven't figured it out yet? No protection for them There was an exceptional variety of 401K choices available to Enron employees.. Let's say that if people can choose to abort they sure as hell should be able to choose their retirement plans. In fact I'd extend that to Social Security and apply the same reasoning. Give people some choices, real conservative fixed income types based on long term investment in say muni's and other state and federal bonds. What are we protecting these people from, their greed. Anyway for sure they need some good sound investment education in high school and college. Maybe we should change the laws and let employees write a check each month for their withholding taxes (rather than employers)......that'd be a good start.
