Plenty of rules, from which slave to beat and which to kill, to paragraphs in Leviticus that detail how to treat leprosy that don't do a damn thing except sound important.

Mysticism should have died out during the Age of Reason, but it continues to hang on because there are so many who are desperate, and many others who feel intelligent by drooling rote and dogma.
