tip, i agree with the spirit of your post. buy low and sell high, or sell high and buy low, everyone attempts to time the market. this mantra is no different for the traditional buy and hold investor.

bearish or bullish, no one mentality is more academic than the other. certainly though, one is more "right". as nothing is 100%, and unexpected events can negatively impact a trade to extremes, imo it is imperative that one remains flexible and maintain stop loss discipline.

mean historical growth may pin the Dow at 5000, but the market isn't overvalued or undervalued. it is what it is. and as long as someone is willing to pay a price, that's what it's worth.

my calling for a market turn is really no different than you calling for significant down by august. we all try to stay one step ahead of the Word...the trick is knowing when it is singing a different tune.
