"THAT'S what the computer world means when they talk about multi-user capabilities"

By "computer world" you mean IT professionals? High tech workers?

In your world you use a linux terminal, in my world I use another PC.

But in my parents world and my low tech siblings & friends world, they have only one computer, one CPU, one monitor, one keyboard, one mouse that the family shares. What they want/need, is that computer to serve them as individuals, their own applications, their own documents, their own desktop, with out interference from the other users, without the additions of more monitors, keyboards and mice.

You can not claim that your computer usage pattern fits the "world". You are a trained professional (at least that what you imply) and you are outside the market for which Windows XP Home is targeted. You don't need it. You should use Unix or Linux.
