"Man's life, as required by his nature, is not the life of a mindless brute"

She would have had nothing but contempt for you, Average Joe, for the way you live your life through others! I am sure you do not consider yourself a "mindless brute" as you recite and prattle the words of another-over and over and over...LOL!

Greenspan told a student who had asked how to succeed in this difficult job market, "The best chance you have of making a big success in this world is to decide from square one that you're going to do it ethically."

Here, then, is wisdom. Resist temptation for short term gain, because it will cost you big time in the long run.
Some would say that resisting temptation is sacrificing yourself for someone else's good. I hardly see it that way.

And the long term, is really really long!

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

— 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
