The Doors are No. 60. CSNY's Deja Vu is No. 61. Young's best solo work from early in his career (Harvest, After the Gold Rush) may not qualify as Rock and Roll in their book.....it was a hybrid of different styles. Tommy is on the list, but not their favorite Who album. They had it down around No. 90 or so, I would have put it much higher.

Last week I listed VH1's Top Ten albums of all time (off of their Top 100 list from a year or two ago). Here is the second ten: 11. ``The Beatles'' (1968) 12. The Rolling Stones, ``Exile on Main Street'' (1972) 13. The Who, ``Who's Next'' (1971) 14. Joni Mitchell, ``Blue'' (1971) 15. U2, ``The Joshua Tree'' (1987) 16. Fleetwood Mac, ``Rumours'' (1977) 17. Sex Pistols, ``Never Mind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols'' (1977) 18. Prince & the Revolution, ``Purple Rain'' (1984) 19. The Velvet Underground, ``Velvet Underground & Nico'' (1967) 20. Public Enemy, ``It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back'' (1988) We start to see some of JXM's list here. I think Rumours has not worn so well over time so I would put it much lower, though there is some good stuff on it....could just be the overexposure, and it's hard to penalize a group for having stuff that people want to listen to. Although I have heard most of these at one time or another, except Public Enemy, I only have four in the home collection: The White Album, Joshua Tree, Rumours, and Purple Rain. Any other comments?
