Re <<do you mean all the chips, or just equipment makers?>>

Just the equipment makers. I think you will near zero expansion of 200 mm, 0.25 micron, and very little 0.18 capacity expansion. Vast majority of the front end expansion will be at 0.18 and 0.13, both of which includes Cymer's lasers.

Re << by six months, are you saying you don't think business will pick up for the equipment makers until the end of 2002..>>

I don't think business will pick up till early 2003 and equipment stock are a bit ahead of themselves, and have another fall in them.

Re <<you don't see COHR as a competitor? >>

COHR has a German subsidiary (Lambda Physic -sp?) that has been trying to compete with Cymer with little success. Keep in mind that Cymer has only 3 customers. Yes there are only 3 companies in the world who make steppers. Canon, Nikon and ASM/SVG (ASM Lithography recently bough Silicon Valley Group). Both Canon and Nikon have tried to find a second source for their lasers and have qualified Lamda, but big chip makers require Cymer's laser in their steppers. Komatsu, a Japanese competitor has had better success. Check out a summary of a recent report here: Message 16906966

Re << BTW do you work for a public company? >>

Yes.
