He said the wounded included 18 police, a pedestrian and a private security guard. No American citizens were hurt. Police earlier said the attack was carried out by two men. The US government offices, known as the American Center, house the US press attaché, a trade office and a library popular with local residents. The consulate is in a separate building a few blocks away.
