Well that is cute, Dithers.

But the point remains that immunity for the Emperor was the MOST important and the CRITICAL fact in the impetus to surrender. The point is that the overtures to surrender were bold, visible, and comprehensible. They wanted to keep their God--their identity and meaning. In the end they were allowed to retain a semblance of honour and their Emperor lived for many years.

The fact that he was subsequently forced to renounce his Divinity is beside the point. Once you have surrender and occupation you can put a little sweetener in your coffee.

There was no need to kill so many innocent people other than revenge, hatred, and a reliance on pragmatism over compassion.

You can post your defensive diatribes till your face turns blue. It will never make 3 year old children guilty. And it will never ever justify their murder.
