Personally, I like to own actual shares, though.

It's not an either/or thing. Use options to generate income to buy the shares. My opinion is selling options is a far better idea than buying them. You say you put in a buy order for INTC at $30 right? You could have sold $30 puts and made money even if Intel doesn't go that low. You can get ~$0.75 for an Feb $30 Put right now. If it goes below $30 and you get assigned, you buy for $29.25. Otherwise you just keep the money.
