That "relatively minor item" was 1/3 of Intel's net income in 2000. How much of Dell's net income in 2000 was this item? Could part of Dell's net income decline in fiscal 2002 be due to a decline in investment income from unusually high levels in 2000? Wouldn't it be nice if Dell told its shareholders this information?
