And that person is making out like a bandit on his investment while the tenant pays rent, gets no mortgage interest deduction on his income tax, and has nothing to show for all those rent payments by the time he's finished living in the house. The investor won't keep up that home nearly as well as an owner-occupant and some will do it so poorly that it will bring down values of other homes (and property tax receipts for the local government) so again I ask, would you prefer we become a nation of renters?
