planar magnetics - magnepan.com nice speaks. i'll never go back to box if i can help it. no amp, though. i run my 1.6qrs and my surround mmgs with a denon avr-3300. sounds great for my needs. it is best to have a square room as these speakers do require good placement to sound their best - usuall 3 feet from the back wall and whatever sounds best side to side. the imaging is pretty darn nice and hard to give up once you have heard it. :-) i'm running a hsu research sub with the system to provide the low end.
