In the competitive world of politics, the opposition will attempt to exploit any vulnerability they can find. Any political strategist would do the same, and history is full of examples. One doesn't need a poll to know that. And if there was a Democrat in the White House--and there was recently, I seem to recall--the Republicans would, and did, do the same.
