I believe the one where we were was the Cheyenne Arapaho Hodge site. It seems at one time they(Cheyenne/Arapaho) had a cattle ranch nearby. Catalogued the dig in 1974 or so(I think it's on the national registry). What's amazing is there are several pipelines in that quarter section that were laid between 74 and present. They've just now started to halt all trenching activity. Most land owners in that area want 48" cover to the top of the pipeline. With a 12" pipeline, that means the ditch is +-60" deep.
