<Venezuela a much larger problem for the U.S. than Argentina>

And certainly true that, as usual, our mainstream media is asleep at the wheel. Chavez is a vicious and destructive hard line authoritarian Marxist, ala Joe Stalin.

Was PMing with one of my industry friends in Houston (about 2 weeks ago); and when I expressed my concerns about Chavez his answer was interesting. He told me if Chavez starts interfering with the oil industry in a serious way, the old Maracaibo "oil mafia" will take him out, period.

My guess is that right now Chavez is probably on very thin ice with those people and being watched very closely notwithstanding any temporary deals that may be in place between factions.

Just an opinion from someone with long international experience who is familiar with the major players in Venezuelan oil. But I would keep it in mind, if things really fall apart down there.

Russ:

Thanks for posting the Duarte commentary!

Market looks like it might bounce some in anticipation of easy Al's speech tomorrow. But I doubt such a bounce will last very long.
